"After all, Lennés conception of a park on the riverside became reality from the year 2000. As early as 1990, the Pionierpark was renamed to bear its previous name. Old rails were removed, and the coal storage yard rebuilt into a riverside promenade, ultimately uniting the park and the river Elbe." (from: Stadt im Wandel.
